AUSTRALIAN UNDER-19 GEMS SQUAD TRIMMED AHEAD OF SELECTION CAMP

As preparations continue for the 2017 FIBA World Championships from July 22-30, the Australian Under-19 Gems squad has been cut to 15.

That squad will head to Basketball Australia's Centre of Excellence (CoE) for a selection camp on June 4-7 from which 12 players will be selected to represent Australia at the World Championships.

The Gems advanced through the FIBA Oceania tournament late last year to qualify for the World Champs and eleven players who were present at the 107-52 gold medal victory over New Zealand remain in the squad.

Rounding out the rest of the team are Chelsea Brook and Anneli Maley who competed in the 2016/17 WNBL season, CoE athlete Rebecca Pizzey and Morgan Yaegar from the University of Oregon.

The draw for the Under-19 World Championships has already been confirmed with the Gems drawn into Group D.
