About the U14 Championships

In 2016, for the first time ever, the Boys & Girls Australian U14 Club Championships will be held together as one exciting event.


The 2016 Australian U14 Club Championships will be held from Monday 26 September to Saturday 1 October, 2016.

Teams will be expected to arrive on or before Saturday 24th September and depart on or after Sunday 2 October.

Sunday 25th September:                      Training, Team Photos and Technical Meeting
Monday 26th September:                     Opening Ceremony, Initial Pool Round Games
Tuesday 27th September:                     Initial Pool Round Games
Wednesday 28th September:               Split into Championship & Shield Division, Pool Games
Thursday 29th September:                   Morning - Championships & Shield Pool Games
Afternoon - Quarter Finals
Friday 30th September:                        Semi Finals & Classification
Saturday 1st October:                           Grand Finals & Play Offs


Your Host

The 2016 Australian U14 Club Championships will be co-hosted by Newcastle Basketball Association and Maitland Basketball Association.

Newcastle is a harbour city surrounded by amazing surf beaches on the central coast of New South Wales just over two hours from Sydney.

Maitland is inland from Newcastle and is the gateway to the beautiful Hunter Valley Region.

These two cities will provide a stunning backdrop for the championships as well as plenty of sightseeing activities for teams and visiting families.

Games will be played at both Newcastle Basketball Stadium – Cnr Young Road & Curley Road, Broadmeadow NSW 2292 & Maitland Federation Centre – 10 Bent Street, Maitland NSW 2320.

The two venues are approximately 25 minutes apart. All teams will play at both venues over the course of the Championships.

The Opening Ceremony will be held at 9:00am on Monday 26th September at Maitland Federation Centre.

The Closing Ceremony and all medal presentations will take place at Newcastle Basketball Stadium following the final game at approximately  Saturday 1 October, time TBC.

The 2016 Australian U14 Club Championships will have 24 Boys and 24 Girls teams in attendance. Teams will be nominated by their relevant state associations.
