Aussie stars in action - WNBA Week 10 Wrap
Carrie Graf sees Liz Cambage record a new career high in points, while Erin Phillips leads her side to first place in the Eastern conference.
Here is your Week 10 update of the seven Aussie stars playing in the WNBA.
Australians continue to fascinate the American media, and it is no surprise considering the dominance of our players on the 2011 WNBA landscape.
Erin Phillips’ Indiana Fever team continues to lead the way in the Eastern Conference, and the play of the Aussie point guard continues to be a major reason why.
Once again Phillips was outstanding this week, starring against Tully Bevilaqua’s San Antonio Silver Stars with 18 points.
Penny Taylor was again terrific for the Mercury this week, who finished with 2-1 record and helped push them into second place in the Western Conference. Taylor finished with 19 points and 6 assists in her side’s big win over the Atlanta Dream.
It was Aussie versus Aussie for Liz Cambage this week, facing off against four Aussies in her four games.
Cambage battled Tully Bevilaqua, Jenna O’Hea, Belinda Snell and Erin Phillips, but was unable to crack it for a victory, bringing up 16 straight losses for the Tulsa Shock.
But she did however record a new WNBA career-high of 24 points, to go along with 10 rebounds against the Seattle Storm.
Australian Opals captain Lauren Jackson and head coach Carrie Graf were on hand to see her set her new personal best.
